Olympic Natonal Forest
near Long Beach, Washington State
Just acres and acres of Christmas Trees.
Marbled Murrelets prefer old-growth forests for their nests and
obviously the above christmas tree grove is not ideal.
I was employed as a seasonal field technician to conduct
auditory and visual surveys for the Marbled Murrelet, Brachyramphus marmoratus.
Compass bearings, grid maps, GIS maps, and four-wheel drive vehicles
were used to set up and relocate survey stations. This
species of
seabird prefers to nest in old-growth coniferous forests along the
Pacific Coast of North America.
