Las Hoyas, Sierra de Manantlan Biosphere Reserve, Jalisco, México

Mario at the entrance on our first day there.

In Mexico during the summer of 1999 I was part of a team of undergraduates and biologists charged with mist-netting for and conducting
population studies of passerines, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and other birds for the University of Jalisco at Guadalajara in the Sierra de Manantlan
Biosphere Reserve.  We worked in three distinct habitats: cloud forest, scrubland, and humid coastal lowland forest.
