Water Conservation Area 2B, by junction of highways 27 and 75

Eric and Julien's Epic Snail Kite Adventure!
Limpkin, Aramus guarauna, nestling in a nest.
Apple Snails are their dietary mainstay but they will also eat insects and frogs.
They fly with jerky wing beats and rapid upstrokes and I have mistaken them for Brown Ibis.
This guy was staying perfectly still to avoid detection when Julien and I found him in tiny Melaleuca tree island.  What a find.  We took a
picture then promptly left.
