I
was employed as a laboratory volunteer to clean asphalt-laden mammal,
bird, reptile, and amphibian bones using 1,1,1-trichloroethane and to
sort through excavated tar pit matrix for microfossils such as plant
debris, insect exoskeletons, and gastropod shell fragments.
